Purchase of Development Land – January 2013

The Trustees are delighted to announce the completion of some development land at Strawberry Hill, Broadwater Down in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

The site which measures 0.62 of an acre is located on a corner plot at the junction of Broadwater Down and the A26. The property previously comprised a large single dwelling which has been demolished in recent years. The plot is broadly rectangular in shape and surrounded by some mature trees (Oak and Yew) which will provide shelter and privacy.

There have been several planning permissions on the site the latest being in 2006 when permission was granted for a small complex of 8 apartments with 11 car parking spaces with good access and landscaping. This consent has now lapsed.

What happens next ?

The Trust needs to achieve a new planning permission with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council Planning Office. Currently a scheme is being drafted by Malcolm Cassam Associates in Crowborough with a view to approach the Council on an informal basis. Once any criteria from the Council has been discussed and considered a formal application will be submitted. There may be further surveys and reports required to accompany the application. It is hoped the first meeting will take place in January / February 2013.

Planning applications take time and there will always be amendments to the scheme. Details of the scheme will be posted on the website once they are in the public domain. If planning approval is granted the trust will endeavour to obtain a prospectus detailing options to rent or lease purchase the apartments. A full prospectus will be issued once this has been agreed and circulated to all those that are interested in the scheme.

As funding becomes available so building will commence.

Since the purchase of the land in Tunbridge Wells the desire of the Trustees remains the same  – to involve as many people as possible in the project and above all we ask for your prayerful support.

Collectively we would humbly seek the Lord’s guidance, His gracious help and favour as we commence this great venture.

May God have all the glory.
